Mobile devices have become more preferred in accessing websites in recent years. As a natural consequence of this, Google has moved mobile-friendly websites to higher rankings.

Google: Mobile First Index Priority

Mobile First Index Priority Sites

About 1.5 years ago, Google announced that it would make a radical change in its search engine algorithm and list websites with content compatible with mobile devices higher, in other words, it would launch the“Mobile First Index” feature.

Until recently, it only evaluated sites in desktop browser view, but now it focuses on Mobile searches, which account for 60% of search traffic. Mobile phones, tablets and smart devices now make up the biggest slice of the internet pie.

Regardless of the mobile platform, Google seeks mobile compatibility in the websites it indexes. With 3rd party solutions such as DHTML, Boot Strap and Ajax, users can mobilize their own sites and create content that complies with Google Index rules. Whether the mobile device uses the Android, IOS, Windows or Java platform has no effect.

The aim is to support page designs that can change shape, reduce file sizes and even reduce content according to different screen resolutions, whether mobile or desktop. In order to contribute to the development of“mobility” among websites, Google is implementing such an application.

According to what we have heard, Google predicts that in the near future, 80% of search traffic will come from mobile and 20% from other devices. It is creating new search and indexing algorithms that can provide this traffic.

Is your site ready for Google Mobile First Index?

There are 4 golden rules for the Google search engine to index the mobile versions of your site and list them at the top.

Original Content
Links
Data Markups
● Hosting Speed

First of all, your website should be rich in original (not stolen or spam) content. You should also make a markup for the mobile view of your site with the Structured Data Markup tool. Finally, the hosting company that provides web server service where the mobile version will be published must have high speed and optimized performance.

For responsive websites

Responsive websites host the same web content with a single URL. Most of today’s websites are of this type. Google Bots like to crawl these types of sites because they are widely used.

Dynamic websites

In dynamic websites, the URL address is still the same, but the content is different from the web. The number of such websites is also increasing. My personal opinion is that in the future Google will prefer mobile websites with this structure.

Different Site Different Content

One of Google’s technological contributions to the internet literature is AMP(Accelerated Mobile Pages). Let’s briefly mention the system for now, but I will write an article on Google AMP in the coming days. To briefly mention AMP here, the content belongs to you, but your content is published over Google servers in a structure similar to the HTML tags of AMP technology.

You can use services such as Adsense and Analytics on AMP just like you use them on your website. The biggest plus is the speed difference. At the same loading speed of the Google Home page, the content of your site will be loaded on the user’s mobile device. This will provide extra visitors.
