What is HP Blade Technology?

HP Turkey introduced HP Blade and One View in the first Server-Storage product group of this year to its dealers and customers with a symposium heldat “Istanbul Shangri La Bosphorus Hotel“. I had the opportunity to attend the symposium and witnessed how HP will develop its technology both for 2014 and in the coming years. There will be some notes I will share with you from the symposium that lasted about 4 hours.

In 2006, HP brought a completely different dimension to the IT industry with a new technology called Blade technology, and in the 7 years that have passed, this technology has become an indispensable part of the virtualization process.

By adopting this technology until 2018, HP expects its users to save space, energy and economically. It has achieved energy savings of up to 70%on the C7000 series chassis.

HP Virtualization Solutions

Blade-type server systems that work successfully with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Microsoft and SAP and network cards such as Cisco, Broadcom and Qlogic have reached a record of 3.8 million units sold to date.

In a Microsoft-HP-led test in Vegaslast year, 32 MoonShoot-type Blade servers were used to run a total of 40.000 applications were run on 32 MoonShoot-type Blade servers and it was observed that even at the busiest operation of this data center, only 20%of the system resources were used and 80% ofthe system resources were idle.

A good example of Cloud technology, which has developed in recent years following virtualization, has been tested in this way and saved in many areas.

Transition to Cloud Technologies

Some of the famous companies using the cloud system in the world are Google and Akamai.net, while Turkcell and TTNet were the first in our country. When you buy the Cloud service, which will save you from cooling, maintenance, backup, license, personnel, cabling and electricity costs, the service provider takes care of these problems for you.

However, many companies are still distant from the Cloud service due to data security and privacy concerns. Therefore, it has not yet reached the desired level.

In the last 15 years, Intel has increased its market share from 3%to 80%by producing processors to address the Server-Storage market. Intel, which will launch 14nm Xeon processors for this year, has taken Server type processors to a completely different dimension with its revolutionary innovations in core architecture and has made a clear difference to its competitors.

Recently, 40Gbit speeds have been reached on the Ethernet interface, and Gen7 and Gen8 type servers have been developed, supported by more manageable ILO software instead of Smart Start.
