How to Configure Core Switch?

In this article, we will examine how to make basic settings on HP brand switches and backbone switches. Switch-PC connection can be done in 3 different ways. However, the most commonly used method is to connect with the console interface.
Connecting to the Switch
It is connected from the console (RS-232 or RJ-45 port) port on the front or back of the switch to the com port (serial port) of the PC with the help of a console cable specially produced for the switch. Then the management panel of the device is accessed through licensed software such as Hyperterminal or SecureCRT.
If the switch is new, it does not have a manager password because it is in factory settings. Therefore, a manager (admin) password must be defined first. Before we move on to this topic, let’s examine the other two methods of connecting to the switch.
If the device is set, that is, the IP number and administrator password are set, you can enter the IP number of the device in the Web Browser. You will be greeted by an interface similar to the administrator interfaces found on modems.
The other method is to establish a Telnet connection. When the IP number of the device is entered into the Microsoft Telnet program, a screen similar to Hyperterminal will greet you. However, while Telnet and Web Interface connections can be made remotely, with the Console connection method, you will need to physically connect to the device with the help of a Console cable.
In our article, we will describe the Telnet and Console connection type because it is more commonly used. I would like to remind you that Telnet and Hyperterminal programs are installed on Windows 98 and Windows XP operating systems.
I recommend that if you are using Vista or Windows Seven you can find a compatible version of Hyperterminal on the internet and use it. Or you will need to install the Telnet plugin from Windows add-ons. Finally, you will need to obtain a usb converter as new generation PCs and notebooks do not have a com port.
