Fortigate Firmware Update

In order for Fortigate Firewall devices to work healthier and more efficiently, Firmware updates should be made periodically throughout the year. Firmware, that is, the platform update that the device is using, will enable faster and faster use of both newly added features and existing features.
Before you start updating
This is highly recommended as it will improve traffic and the quality of network security. However, this process is as challenging as it is simple. Follow the procedures in the order listed below:
- First of all, if you are not familiar with Fortigate Firewall Systems, do not attempt to update the firmware. You can make an eye while trying to make an eyebrow. This means additional costs. 🙂
- If you are in a position to have this process done for a service fee, call the authorized service personnel without a moment’s hesitation.
- Make a note of the model number and firmware version of the Fortigate device you are using. It may be needed in the future.
- In order not to lose or damage the configurations on the device, take a Backup from the Maintenance page and download it to your computer.
- Connect to the device from the web interface and press the Firmware Upgrade link in the Dashboard. On the page that opens, show the firmware file that you have previously downloaded to the hard disk of the local PC and press OK.
- There is a sensitive issue here that you should pay attention to. Do not upload the latest, most up-to-date version of the firmware version to the device at once. Go to the latest version by installing intermediate versions. For example : For a Fortigate device with version 224B – V400-b0303, the latest version is reached as b0313, b0315, b0320 … respectively. Skipping intermediate versions will cause a healthy update.

- Update files for all models of Fortigate are available at ftp://pftpintl:sgn89IOngs@support.fortinet.com/FortiGate
. From this address, download the “out” files to your computer carefully and then upload them one by one to the Firmware update section.
Check the traffic and a few configurations after each upload. In this way, you can understand whether the version you have applied is compatible with the system. Especially in MR version transitions, that is, in transitions such as MR1 to MR2, the interface will change on its own.
I can help you if you write down any problems you may experience. That’s all for now. Have a good day.
