We continue where we left off from the 2nd part of the Visual Fiber Optic Cable Tutorial. Finally, after peeling the colored layer on the fiber optic hair, we passed it through the plastic tube. Thanks to the metal rod inside the plastic tube, the place to be welded will be protected from external influences and impacts.

Fiber Glaze Layer Peeling
After installing the tubes properly, we will carefully scrape the last layer of“glazed layer” on the fiber optic bristle with the help of 3-pronged pliers. After the scraping process is over, let’s clean the remaining stains and similar residues with the help of an alcohol wipe.
Since we are at the stage where the fiber optic hair is the most sensitive, let’s pay maximum attention to both the cable and our own health at this stage. After finishing the cleaning process, it is time to cut the cable end flat with millimeter precision.
Fiber Optic Cable End Cutting
Before welding, which is the second stage of Fiber Optic Cable Training, only the welding layer is left on the fiber hair, whose glaze layer is completely removed. And the first welding will be done with the fusion machine from the end of this layer.
For this reason, the very tip of the bristle must be cut properly so that it welds one-to-one with the tip coming from the opposite side. In this way, we will have successfully welded face to face.
Otherwise, if the ends are not cut properly, the fusion machine will give an error “-invalidcut angle” and will not start the welding process. For this reason, a smooth cut is made by using a diamond tipped cutting tool and the welding stage is reached. This process is repeated until the fusion machine accepts it.
Welding of Fiber Optic Cable Bristle
At this stage, the same procedures are performed for the fiber optic cables to be joined end-to-end and they are precisely seated in the mutual welding slots of the fusion machine. After making sure that both sides are properly seated, the cover of the fusion machine is closed.
As you can see in the picture below, there is a keypad on the fusion device. I have indicated on the picture what they are for. To fuse both ends, put the device in “-Auto” mode.
If you wish, you can also select saved parameters that you have already customized. However, the Fiber Optic Fusion machine is commonly used and preferred in Auto mode. Thus, the device determines the cable thicknesses and types by itself. When you press the Play button, it brings the bristle tips on both sides one to one and performs the welding process. You follow these stages live on the screen.
If you get the message 00.00 db. as in the picture above and the device does not give any other error message, the cable is perfectly welded. Open the top cover as soon as you receive this message.
Welding Zone Housing Tube Fixing Processing
Using the metal magnets, indicated by the yellow arrow in the picture above and located next to the welding area, the welding point where the bristles meet is precisely adjusted to the center of the tube.
Fiber Optic Cable Training The plastic tube, which is the last stage, must be heated at appropriate temperatures in order to be sealed in place.
To do this, it is placed on the top of the fusion machine and after the latches are closed, the lid is closed and the resistance button with the zig zag sign on the device is pressed. After about a minute, the device alerts you audibly and asks you to take the plastic tube out of the chamber.
Fiber Optic Cable Welding Success!
After completing this step, the welded fiber optic cable can be safely placed in the shelf. Our fiber optic cable is now ready for use after the light test. After terminating the other hairs according to their colors, we can end our work by performing a mutual laser test.
