Procurve Switch Basic Commands

Before this article called Procurve Switch Management, we talked about the management console connection for HP Procurve Networking Switches in our article calledProcurve Smart Switch Configuration and we came to the Management Mode section and interrupted the article. In HP Procurve Switches, we will configure some basic network structures both from the“Management Mode” screen and by typing commands in the console environment.

Let’s move on to the configuration process by introducing the buttons and led lights on the front panel of the switch.

Switch Front Side:

Power LED:

This led lights green as long as the device is on and running. It goes out when it turns off. It has no other color.

Fault LED:

If the device is locked due to any physical malfunction or configuration error, this led will turn orange. This led does not light as long as the device is working stably. It has no other color.

Console:

From the Console port here, you can manage the switch by providing a Cli-Console connection with the help of an RS-232 serial cable.

LED Mode:

Selects the function of the green leds on each interface. Act: According to traffic density. FDx: Illuminates the port according to FDx types.

Spd:

It lights up according to the speed of the ports.

Test:

Lights green when the device is in boot mode. Hard Password Clear is used as a guide.

Reset ve Clear:

Clear button deletes the password on the device. Reset will Hard Reset the device.

Switch Informations:

Menu screen Status and Counters > General System Informations

In this screen, you can see statistical information such as firmware, ROM version, Switch MAC address, Serial number, Memory status, CPU status and on time.
