Netsight Authorization Device Access Settings

Let’s take a look at the definitions of “Netsight Authorization” in the monitoring software used for network monitoring, alarm and configuration. In our previous article, we talked about SNMP protocol in general and configured SNMP v3 for Extreme network. Please click on Enterasys SNMP v3 Configuration title to reach the previous article.
Netsight Monitoring Software
In this part of SNMP v3 training, we will again explain how to integrate Extreme Network Switches into Netsight Network Monitoring software, that is, Netsight Authorization. We will perform this configuration on your Netsight server with the remote desktop procedure.
If you have access from a terminal computer, it can also be done this way, but it will be safer to work on the server first. If you do not have Netsight Monitoring Software installed yet, you can install it by taking advantage of our article Netsight Monitoring Application – Installation Notes .
Open Java based Netsight Console application and login with administrator password. To authorize Netsight, open Tools> Authorization/Device Access from Menu or open Authorization/Device Access module by clicking the icon shown in the picture below.
Users/Groups Tab
In the first tab in the window that opens, in the Users/Groups section, the user and group definitions required to log in to the Netsight Server are made. Authorization can also be done in this section.
Profiles/Credentials Tab
The second tab, Profiles/Credentials, is shown in the picture above. Here you must first define an SNMP Profile. For this, you should define it as above by pressing the Add Profile button. Then click the Add Credential button without closing the Profiles/Credentials screen. You will see a screen like this.
Again, make definitions as in this picture. The username and passwords you use in all these configurations must be the same as the SNMPv3 definitions on the switches. Otherwise you will get a connection error.
Before leaving the same screen, let’s define a Profile in the SSH Management Password of your switches. This is independent of SNMPv3 profiles. When you double click on the switch, it will automatically create a session over SSH without asking for a password and drop you to the CLI Console screen.
For this, select the CLI Credentials tab as shown in the image below and click the Add button.
Fill in the blanks with management information to login to the switches. Then you can apply these definitions to the netsight shortcuts of the switches from the Profile/Device Mapping tab as shown in the picture below.
Profile/Device Mapping Tab
In this tab, we will assign the SNMPv3 profiles we defined to the switches one by one. When you click on button 1 in the picture above, line 2 opens below. Select the desired profile here and click on button 3 to apply it.
